MicroCentric Diaphragm Chucks

Offering short set-up times, high accuracies of two microns and clamping forces of between 50 to 6,230 dN, CS Techincs offers the MicroCentric MBS series of diaphragm chucks in a wide range of diameters (80 mm to 300 mm) and capable of running at speeds up to 11,000 revs/min.

These chucks are ideal for grinding and turning operations where fully sealed workholding is required. The chuck opens for OD clamping when the piston is moved towards the top jaws either by air pressure or drawtube force. The chuck closes by the re-deformation of the diaphragm/by the pneumatic or drawtube-based movement of the piston. The function is reversed for ID clamping.

The chucks are available in four different styles:

MBS-L

Pneumatically operated, built-in air cylinder for ID and OD clamping at low/medium cutting forces for cylindrical grinding, turning and hard turning.

MBS-Z

Drawtube-operated with separate air cylinder for ID and OD clamping at low/high cutting forces for cylindrical grinding, turning and hard turning.

MBS-B

Pneumatically operated, built-in air cylinder, air operated by back ports for ID and OD clamping at low/medium cutting forces for cylindrical grinding, turning and hard turning.

MBS-N

Pneumatically operated, built-in air cylinder, stationary use for ID and OD clamping for milling, drilling and tapping. Also recommended for abrasive workpieces (ie ceramics and carbides).
